Product Spotlight - Layrite Superhold Pomade
Often imitated but never replicated, Layrite Pomades have been a fan favourite for decades. During the late 90's the creators of Layrite opened thier first salon in California with a vintage rockabilly style and laid back atmosphere. With a desire to create a water based product for thier customers that provided for thier desired styles without the excessive use of grease and oil based products a brand was born. In 2001 Layrite Deluxe Pomade was introduced to the world and has been on the top 10 list of pomades ever since. These days the Layrite Pomade range includes 5 pomades including the Original, Matte, Supershine, Cement and Superhold.Â
This is the Layrite Superhold Pomade which is the heaviest in the Layrite lineup of water based pomades.Â
With similar packaging to the other Layrite pomades and hair products, the Superhold Pomade is easily identified by the brown colour of the label. The pomade itself is a light orange colour and has a mild vanilla scent consistent with other Layrite products. Layrite Superhold pomade is available in travel sized 42g, standard 120g and large 297g variaties.Â
This superhold, medium shine pomade is easy to apply, it has a softer gel like consistency similar to jelly that makes it easy to get out of the tub and mold into your hair. Application is a breeze and goes on smooth. Unlike other heavy hold pomades this one is lightweight and strong and doesn't feel too heavy on application. Despite having a strong hold if your hair is longer in length, greater than 6 inches, you may find that the hold is not sufficient enough for some styles. This pomade is also best applied to slightly damp hair while using a comb to spread evenly throughout.Â
With regards to slickness Layrite Superhold Pomade stays pretty moist and doesn't dry out or become flaky after application. Its considered to give a medium shine on hair without giving a greasy look.Â
Since Layrite Superhold Pomade is a water based pomade it is easy to wash out at the end of the day and doesn't leave tough to remove residual product.Â
